4 October 2023
Eco Sustainable Solutions, Christchurch-based organic waste recycling and renewable energy company, has received glowing recognition within its field this year, as the team continues to develop and enhance the ways they manage and transform waste.

Eco received six award nominations this year, winning five out of the six including the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management, the British Renewable Energy Awards, the Green Apple Environment Awards, the Bournemouth Business Awards, and the Christchurch Business Awards.

Justin Dampney, Managing Director at Eco Sustainable Solutions, said: “It’s been a great year for us here at Eco Sustainable Solutions, and it’s been an honour to be recognised for the work the team have been doing to continually improve the way waste is processed and used, turning it into something that will benefit the community and our planet. We are so thrilled to be able to share our achievements alongside other like-minded businesses and organisations who are making fantastic moves within the industry and in our local area.

The Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management 2023 celebrated its 20th year this May, showcasing the remarkable and innovative achievements with a range of companies, local authorities and individuals including Eco Sustainable Solutions. Eco won the ‘Organics Recycling Business of the Year’ award as well as being one of the finalists for the ‘Recycled Product of the Year’ after ‘consistently demonstrating commitment to sustainability and exemplary leadership in organic waste management’.

Eco Sustainable Solutions took home a second win in May, at the Bournemouth Business Awards 2023, in the ‘Green/Eco Business’ category where 18 awards were up for grabs, promoting and celebrating the local businesses in each area.

Eco celebrated a further two wins in June, the first at the prestigious British Renewable Energy Awards 2023, where, from an unprecedented number of nominations from individuals and organisations across all sectors, Eco was the winner of the ‘Sustainability’ category. June’s second win came in the Green/Eco Business category at the Christchurch Business Awards 2023 where more than 50 business leaders returned for its second year, promoting local businesses, encouraging young entrepreneurs and celebrating the innovative talent across the area.

The company’s latest achievement for the year came after Eco won the Green Apple Environment Awards for its biodiversity project where Eco Sustainable Solutions worked to enhance biodiversity levels across its three waste management sites. The team set aside twelve hectares of land previously used to grow turf to dedicate towards heathland restoration, including creating reptile hibernacula. Eco also planted over 1200m2 of wildflower meadow at its Weymouth and Piddlehinton sites and planted 50 native tree and shrub species in publicly accessible areas around its main site in Parley, helping to promote and boost biodiversity growth.

The Eco team have been invited to attend a prestigious presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament this November where they will be presented with their Green Apple Award trophy, and where they will discover if they have won bronze, silver, or gold.

Justin Dampney commented: “We have big plans for 2024, and we hope to continue to make positive strides for sustainability in the waste management and renewable energy sectors. I am so proud of everyone in the team, they work so hard to make sure that Eco is as effective as it can be and it’s such a great feeling to have all our hard work recognised through these awards.”
