The fifth meeting of the group brought together the voices and perspectives of organisations and their representatives within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
It aims to be a forum to share ideas, knowledge, experience and best practice and establish networks for potential future collaboration.
Thirty-three members were taken on an expert-led tour of Eco Sustainable Solutions’ 32-acre Chapel Gate Eco Park at Parley, near Christchurch.
They saw at first-hand operations dealing with the recycling of food, green and wood waste.
Eco currently converts more than 230,000 tonnes of local organic waste into soil improver, landscaping and horticultural products and renewable energy each year.
The group included representatives from BCP Council sustainable travel and planning teams, Bournemouth University, Brittany Ferries, BH Area Hospitality Association (BAHA), Dorset Community Energy, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks and South West Net Zero Hub.
Martin Gardner, Sustainability Officer: Climate, Resources & Sustainability at BCP Council, said: “Eco Sustainable Solutions operate to many exceptional environmental practises that reflect circular economy and sustainability principles in waste management, reuse and recycling.
“Their presence within the BCP area and collaborations with BCP Council greatly supports the council in minimising the environmental impact of the waste streams for which it is responsible.
“Mike Eborne (Eco’s Development Director) and the team were a delight to work with in helping to arrange the event, with high levels of professionalism shown, both in their practises and approach.”
Previous visits by BCP Climate Partners have included Sunseeker International, Poole Harbour Commissioners, Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth.
