The project comprises an AD Facility for the generation of renewable biogas through the processing of food waste, together with a digestate storage lagoon, biomethane refuelling station, landscaping, and associated works.
Once operational, the facility will process locally sourced food waste with a capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes per annum, converting it into renewable biogas. This biogas will be exported from the site directly into the gas distribution network, delivering a genuine, local source of renewable energy and supporting the wider transition away from fossil fuels.
As part of the development, a biomethane refuelling station will be built on site. This will help decarbonise the fleet of waste collection vehicles that import food waste to the Park Grounds facility, cutting emissions from the very vehicles that keep the operation running.
The planning application was considered by Wiltshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee, which gave the scheme its unanimous approval — a strong endorsement of the project’s benefits for the local area, the environment, and the wider community.
What Happens Next
With planning permission now secured, we will begin the next phase of works, including detailed design and construction planning. We look forward to keeping the community updated as the project progresses.
