Coy Pond rockery restorers thank Eco for “fantastic support”

Volunteers restoring the South Coast’s longest rockery have thanked a Dorset company for its ‘fantastic’ support.

The Friends of Coy Pond in Poole is now well on the way to bringing the 550 ft rockery back to its former state.

A dedicated group of volunteers, led by Chairman Mike Smith, is working on the project. They hope to complete the mammoth job by later this year.

Companies supporting the restoration include Parley-based Eco Sustainable Solutions which donated a tonne of its Super Soil product.

Other firms have also chipped in by donating plants, paint and fertiliser.

“The support we’ve received has been fantastic and we can’t thank the likes of Eco Sustainable Solutions enough,” said Mike.

He added: “We are working with limited funds so any donations we receive are very gratefully received.

“The rockery had become obscured over the years with bushes and other vegetation but, after our work, it is now returning to its former glory.

“The reaction from local residents has been very positive and we’ve received many nice comments,” he added.

The Friends of Coy Pond was founded in 1998 and works closely with the Borough of Poole on enhancing the area.

Charlotte Haswell, Eco’s Business Account Handler, said: “The volunteers are doing a wonderful job restoring the rockery and we’re delighted to have assisted with such a worthwhile project.”
