Beds & Borders

Nationwide, chosen day delivery

Beds and borders are crucial components of a garden.

We all know that creating a beautiful bed or a defined border can help give your garden the structure and layout it needs. The selected products below will really help establish your beds and borders; the soil improvers will give your plants a perfect environment to flourish, our range of mulches will protect your beds and make your garden beautiful (and no artificial fertlisers in sight!).

Why not try Eco Mix Coarse to mulch your beds? The coarser composition of our flagship soil improver, Eco Mix, will breakdown over time, providing a slow release of nutrients for your plants.

Beds & Borders questions

Q. Is mulch & bark the same thing?

A. So, mulch is a term used for any organic material that is used as a top dressing on your garden beds or borders. The dressing could be anything from a coarse compost, bark mulch, wood chippings, pine needles, grass clippings etc. Bark is a fantastic material to use as a mulch. It is made out of tree bark shredded into different chosen grades from more fine pieces to larger bark nuggets to top dress your beds. We'd recommend to use 2 to 3 inches around trees and shrubs, however be sure to keep bark a few inches away from the base of a tree trunk in order to prevent any rot or rodent damage. Also, bark decomposes slowly providing nutrients to your bed, but can attract carpenter ants.

Q. What products work best for a new bed/raised bed?

A. If the new beds have no soil, you can fill them with our Eco SuperSoil to provide a nutrient rich topsoil for healthy plant growth.
