New jobs created at £350,000 Weymouth recycling depot (posted 22/07/2009)Two new jobs have been created with the opening of a £350,000 recycling depot in Weymouth.
Up to 16,000 tonnes of green and wood waste will be handled annually at the state-of-the-art facility which is open to the trade and local authorities. The material will be recycled into premium products for resale.
The depot, off Preston Beach Road, has been built by Eco Sustainable Solutions in partnership with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and Dorset County Council.
It will accept waste for recycling from both local authorities under Eco’s eight-year contract with Dorset County Council which was announced last year.
The depot, which will also sell Eco’s products including compost, mulch, turf, soil and woodchip, is open six days a week from 7,30am to 5pm (7.30am to midday on Saturdays).
Steve Harman, Eco’s Operations Manager, said: “The depot features the latest technology and techniques and will play a key role in handling green waste and wood from the local area.”
